Nixon Library Museum is Free on Presidents' Day!

From the OC Register:

If you’ve never been, this is really worth visiting!

The Nixon library and birthplace in Yorba Linda is free Monday (Feb. 21, 2011) in celebration of President’s Day.

They are offering free admission all day, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. That’s a good deal, because normal adult admission is $9.95.

And kids will have a chance to meet historical re-enacters portraying Presidents Lincoln, Washington, Jefferson and Roosevelt.

And also the opportunity to go inside a real presidential helicopter, the very one in which he said goodbye to America as he left 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue for the last time.

What kid could resist that? And my children were really fascinated by the hall of leaders with life-sized bronze statues of some of the world leaders with whom Nixon shared the world stage during his tenure.

This museum has lots of interesting displays and exhibits, including the tiny house in which Nixon was born, so go early enough to take a good look around. I’m not sure if they’ve reopened the Watergate display yet, I’ve been looking forward to the newly renovated space.
