This week about 50 people from the OC attended the inaugural “Neighborhood Beach Watch”, class which is modeled after the successful community policing programs that teaches residents to look out for one another to curb crime. Lifeguards spent about 90 minutes teaching them techniques that they use to assess surf conditions, identify rip currents, identify bathers in trouble and stay safe while performing a rescue.
