New Laguna Beach Skatboarding Ordinance

A much-debated ordinance regulating downhill skateboarding in Laguna Beach went into effect last week. The Laguna Beach City Council approved the ordinance, which includes safety regulations requiring skateboarders to limit their speed to 25 mph and yield to traffic. Skateboarding was also banned from eight sections of hillside streets the council determined as posing too much of a risk to skateboarders and drivers.
